Best For
• Solo travelers or couples wanting a lightweight hard-shell that stays manageable on smaller rigs
• Daily drivers and weight-conscious builds where ~110 lb makes a real difference
• Campers who want fast setup without hauling a bulky expedition tent
Skip If
• You want blackout fabric, heavy insulation, or full four-season expedition features
• Wide family-size sleeping platforms are your priority
• Premium luxury interiors or thick foam mattresses matter more than keeping weight low
What We Like
• Lightweight aluminum-supported hard-shell design makes installs easier than most clamshell RTTs
• Fast setup with a simple pop-open layout keeps things practical for frequent travel
• Slim footprint works well on smaller SUVs, wagons, and crossovers
• Minimalist construction keeps the tent simple, durable, and easy to manage
Tradeoffs
• Self-inflating pad is more minimalist compared to thicker foam mattresses
• No rainfly or canopy included — built around simplicity rather than full feature sets
• Interior width stays compact compared to larger hard-shell or fold-out tents

FSR Tech Fabric and proprietary Tri-layer
The FSR Tech Fabric and proprietary Tri-layer material will provide insulation and water proofing everytime.
I’ve had several tents over the years, and the Aspen lite XL has been the best without a doubt. It’s lightweight, comfortable, and the sun won’t wake you up. Couple this with FSR’s amazing customer service. There’s no reason to wait. Just buy it. You won’t regret it.
We love our Aspen Lite XL! It's an awesome RTT with high quality materials compared to others on the market. It's so spacious that we think we would have been fine with the standard size. We haven't spent too many nights in it yet but so far it's been very comfortable. I wouldn't go back to my Gazelle after having an Aspen.Just a heads up for those on the fence like I was between the Lite or the regular Aspen V2. If I could go back pre-purchase, I'd buy the Aspen V2 and buy their awning brackets. Don't underestimate the difficulty in mounting a simple thing like an awning onto your roof rack when you have a tent on top as well. It's not easy! Sure, it's doable, but I'd far rather mount directly to the tent with quick release brackets than have to deal with mounting awning brackets directly to the rack again. Now the not so nice part and reason for 4 stars not 5. What a pity that they didn't go with an angled steps ladder. Anyone weighing over 150lbs is going to feel it when the climb up and down the ladder which really sucks because there are other much cheaper in price and obviously quality RTTs out there that come with a ladder that has angled steps. Also, the fixed placement of the shoe bags which many others have complained about. Other than that tent rocks. Now FSR just needs to listen to their customers and get a better ladder and make the shoe bag placement optional like the ladder.
Awesome tent, good quality and super fast set up.
Love this tent! Light weight but sturdy! Lots of room and easy to install! High quality construction! Great customer service!
I love everything about this tent. Easy to set up and take down. Super comfortable with the air core mattress and warming blanket. The lights on the inside are so convenient along with the gear storage on the roof and corners.
